Eventually, I would like to see a toolkit which allows an application package to export an abstract interface specifying things like "a parameter named 'speed' is available which may be varied from 0.0 to 1600.0, with help available as 'http://here/speed.html'", and then separate interface packages while provide various commandline, text-menu and graphical presentations of these interfaces.

(I feel strongly that Muq applications should not be hardwired to present one particular end-user interface. Content and presentation should be firmly separated.)

Anyone want to work up a proposal, or know of good existing prior art in this area?
