Muq is at version -1.44.0 as of this (1999Jul30) writing.
Muq version -1.44.0 is a barely-pre-beta release.
The first beta release (version 0.0.0) will be on
2000Dec29, marking exactly seven years of alpha
development. The latest public release of source
code is always available at
ftp.cistron.nl/pub/people/cynbe/, the latest
docs are always on the web at
http://muq.org/~cynbe/muq/muq.html,
and
preformatted tarball versions of
these manuals are available in SCII, HTML, NFO,
DVI and PS from ftp://muq.org/pub/muq/.
There are currently no publicly accessible Internet sites running Muq servers.
Muq has been in development for seven years. Many needed tutorial documents have yet to be written, but the specification is still nearly frozen, and I don't remember the last crashing bug reported by a user. Many security checks and several major planned Muq capabilities are still unimplemented, but beta-testing is currently really only waiting for a complete freeze of the db binary format, so that upgrades won't break running dbs.
